Does money make us happy?

There is no doubt that internal happiness or self-contentment is something money cannot buy, but lack of money to buy life’s basic essential cannot possibly make anyone happy. In my opinion, money can make us happy because of the following reasons.

First, all of us need money to survive and have a normal life. People need a roof over their head, food to eat, water to drink or washing, electricity and gas for heat, transportation, health care and insurance, etc… So, if we do not have money to buy our basic needs, how can we feel happy after all.

Second, money helps people to go through the bad moments in life. Imagine that someone in your family or even yourself stuck in bad problem, such as: serious sickness or bankrupt, you will be very sad and disappointed if you do not have money to overcome the problem. A lot of poor people have to be faced with the death due to lack of money for the curing. Poor people in poor countries died because of the starving.

Third, money can help people broaden their knowledge. The reason about that is people can spend money to go to better school, to go abroad for higher education, to learn different languages or the others things.

Finally, people will be happier and more relaxing to enjoy their life if they have money. Members in a family can spend more time with each other instead of working all the time to earn money. People can buy something they need or want and feel more confident. Otherwise, they can travel to relax and learn new things around the world.

Although money can make us happy, it still can cause a lot of problems. So, the most important thing that we should know is “Money gives happiness if you use it and do not allow it to use you.”
